THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Its been 3 years since Gill and i left Alice
Springs and travelled south, following the old Ghan line and the Oodnadatta
track and then onto the Strezlecki Track, where we stayed in an outstation for almost a year.Resting up and renewing funds for our continueing adventure to find a home for us and all the rescued and previously abused animals that we travelled with.

Our family
Our journey since then has taken us along the rugged Strezlecki Track to Mount Hopeless, following the dirt track towards Yunta then cutting cross country from Curnamona Station towards Broken Hill, then south to Menindee, via station tracks. We have now travelled approximately 2,200 klms!!!! From the Strezlecki to Broken Hill,we were joined by our 17 year old niece Teghan who came to spend time with us.She needed a break from the city and was suffering from depression and not feeling like there was much in life to live for.It was a wonderful lesson for all of us to see her blossom and grow, become healthy and fit and happy about who she was,as she faced and dealt with challenges and learnt to transform adversity with a smile and a joke.

Teghan
It has been a journey that has challenged and blessed us in every way .We have sat through dust storms and torrential rain and got up night after night,so exhausted, when we thought we had nothing else to give,to see to an animal in need, but none of this compares with the gifts of this time. The constant kindness of station owners, who bought us food, ran us hot baths and cooked us lovely dinners was a very special part of this trip and we could not have done it without them.Getting to know the animals, sharing each day with them,we have learnt so much and experienced a level of communication that always continues to surprise us,sitting at night around a campfire with our billy goat singeing his beard as he stands by the fire,a baby camel, snuggled sleeping with an orphan goat.Simple things like this give our lives meaning and in this crazy old world in which we live, are often the only anchor that makes sense.

Munki & Pipi our orphan goat
We left originally on this trip, because we needed a bigger home.We had outgrown our 5 acres in Alice and finding ourselves on a constant treadmill of debt as we struggled to survive and support our ever growing family and there needs and unable to step off the treadmill to look for a new home,we decided to sell up and all go on an adventure together.
Right now we are 100 klms south of Broken Hill, camping just outside of Menindee for the duration of the summer, whilst we escape the heat and continue writing our book about the trip,"Long Walk Home."
but we are still looking for a home

Our current orphans..Prani & Pipi...best friends
We have a vision,we would like to create an animal sanctuary and healing centre for people, already we have taken in numerous animals that needed help and have focused on those that others have given up on,simply because they did not have the time.We have taken in the sick and skeletal, animals covered in mange and others with a history of aggression, because they themselves were abused. We have seen that in a loving space every animal is healed, what a wonderful lesson for our own lives.

Munki & Gill...Please see our history page for pics of Munki when he first arrived
.We would also like to take people trekking with the animals to help them reconnect with themselves and the earth they live on through spending time in nature and with animals
If you would like to help
If you can help in any way with our quest for a home, please do contact us for a chat.We are looking for several thousand acres. We are very attracted to inland NSW,but very open to looking at land anywhere.Right now after three years of travel, funds are low,so if anyone can help us get onto the land it would be soo appreciated. We have our own clothing design bussiness and are currently writing our book.We would also like to publish a series of kids books that teach children about life through the real life experiences of our animals, lessons in letting go and death, trusting in themselves and the power of love,as well as the joy of accepting each others differences.
OR....If you would like to make a donation.
